The Salomon BBR 8.9 ski is a one of a kind, revolutionary idea from Salomon's Bernard Bertrand - the imaginative designer behind Salomon's famouns X-Scream and Pocket Rocket designs. The BBR 8.9 ski uses V-Shape which is an extremely wide tip compared to the waist and the tail. The result is a ski that engages into a turn very easily and feels very quick edge to edge. It almost feels as if the ski pulls you through the turn, not as much power in the exit of the turn. Think front wheel drive feel from a car. This ski is very tight turning for the width underfoot. The BBR has more float in powder that other skis of similar width because of its super-wide surfboard-shaped tip and pin-shaped tail.  The tip stays up in the powder without having to sit back and the tail can slide around for nimble and playful turns.  Carving ski meets fat ski. The Salomon BBR 8.9 is an all mountain ski that performs well on a variety of terrain but really fun on groomers. The BBR 8.9 carves a very fluid turn. Compared to the 7.9, the BBR 8.9 is wider and has a slightly bigger turning radius, and uses sandwich construction for increased torsional rigidity and edge grip. The Salomon BBR 8.9 also has has total edge reinforcement for increased durability and edge grip. "The BBR is like no other!"

Initiates the turn with incredible ease. Great for making quick turns in the fall line, but also fun in big sweepers too. I was taken aback by how stable it was at speed too. Too bad it wasn't a powder day when I tested it, but the BBR 8.9 certainly skied great on the hard-pack. Also, two dads on my race team tried the BBR 8.9 early season at Killington. Both were all smiles as they couldn’t believe how much better it made them ski. A great ski!
