About skicenter.com

Our story goes back 75 years to the time when our founder, Adam Kahane, was a youngster in Europe who fell in love with skiing. In 1959, Adam and his wife Gertrude opened Ski Center. Ike was President, and the Head Standard was king of the slopes. It was a time of lace-up leather boots, baggy pants, wooden skis, and beartrap bindings. Things have changed a lot; even though we still love those baggy pants.

Salepeople were taught that if they did not have the right merchandise for a customer, they shouldn't sell him anything, and never more than he needs. We sell skiing first and products second and believe satisfied customers are more important than sales. These are “Old World” ideals that still guide us today.
Adam has passed the store onto his son Stuart, although we still see Adam on a weekly basis. At age 86, Adam probably still gets more ski days a year than you do. Our shop has employees that have been here for more than 20 years and have continued to keep Ski Center on the forefront of the winter sport industry.
We have a great mix of Ski Center “lifers” and younger passionate working professionals that keep our store ahead of trends both in equipment and clothing. While we have been recognized as the best shop in the east several times by Ski Magazine, it is more rewarding to see satisfied customers return year after year. We are happy to have added an online store to our business and are excited to reach a whole new group of skiers/boarders that can benefit from what we have to offer. We look forward to providing you the best service possible. See you at the top!
