New Equipment

We test skis on an ongoing basis. Our three primary testers, Brian Eardley, Boyd McHugh, and Brian Beaumont, have collectively 65 years of ski equipment testing under their boots. With all three sharing the same boot size, they are able to ski and test three times the number of skis most testers will during a given demo period. This has resulted in a huge internal database that each one of them utilizes to evaluate skis.

Our standard criteria of ski evaluation includes:

edge grip,
ease of turning,
energy,
stability,
vibration control,

turn initiation,
predictability,
turn completion, and
quickness edge to edge.

In addition, we also consider the following variables when evaluating a ski's performance:

the fore and aft mounting position of the binding,
the ramp angle of the binding, and
the tuning of the ski.

These variables can often affect a ski's performance more than its inherent performance qualities. As retailers we are always looking for the best values in performance for our customers. This means comparing skis targeted for similar skier profiles with comparable street prices.
